About us
skillsrecognition.nsw.gov.au contains information about the benefits of skills recognition or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Most of the information will help individuals who are interested in recognising their skills. There is also additional information for teachers and assessors in Registered Training Organisations(RTOs) as well as for employers, enterprises or industry who can benefit from considering recognition as part of their workforce development strategies.
The site does not allow you to undertake skills recognition. That needs to be done with an assessor from an RTO. But it does help you find out more about skills recognition and prepare yourself to meet with an assessor.
Self evaluation tool
This site also contains a self evaluation tool which helps you consider your skills, match them to possible qualifications, and find an RTO to assess you.
This tool allows you to start thinking about the requirements of qualifications in detail, so that you can then focus on how to gather evidence of your competence as part of your assessment.
About the project
This site is managed by the skillsrecognition.nsw.gov.au project.
Our goal is to improve access to information about skills recognition so that potential candidates will be encouraged to take up recognition services available to them and have their skills formally recognised.
This project is part of a program to improve recognition within New South Wales. There are other projects aiming to build the capability of RTOs to deliver improved recognition services. Organisations within industry are also being supported to engage their staff in recognition as part of developing their workforce.
The Australian Government has contributed to funding this program under the Council of Australian Government(COAG) RPL Program. The NSW Department of Education and Training also provides funds.
